White Eyed Conure

Looking for White Eyed Conure? The white-eyed conure, also known as the white-eyed parakeet, is a small green parrot, known for its well-behaved nature. This species tends to be less noisy than many other parrots, less destructive, and more inclined to talk than to scream. When properly socialized, the white-eyed conure can make a loving and entertaining pet.

The white eyed conure is a striking bird that can be an excellent companion for the right people. These birds are curious and intelligent, making them eager to explore and learn new things. However, they can also get into trouble when left unsupervised. White eyed conure owners report that when properly cared for, these birds are exceedingly loving and entertaining. To prevent boredom and behavior problems, white-eyed conures need adequate mental stimulation.

These birds are one of the tamest conure species and can learn to speak with attention, patience, and toys. They love to climb and play, so providing them with enough mental and physical enrichment is crucial. If you’re interested in owning a white eyed conure, make sure you can invest at least 3 to 4 hours per day to interact with your pet. Boredom can lead to lethargy and destructive behaviors such as feather plucking.

Caring for a white eyed conure requires a cage of ample size. A footprint of at least 24 inches by 24 inches and a height of 36 inches is recommended. The cage should have sturdy perches and toys. Outside the cage, a playpen gives the bird space to explore and exercise while flying around the house. In the wild, these birds fly long distances while foraging with other birds, so they require space and opportunity to fulfill this instinct when kept as pets.

A diet consisting of fresh fruits and vegetables supplemented with a high-quality commercial pelleted diet is recommended for white-eyed conures. You can give them an unlimited amount of pellet food, and offer around 1/8 to 1/4 cup of fresh fruits and veggies in the morning and night. These birds can have a small amount of seed for treats, but don’t let them consume too many as they tend to favor the fattening ones, leading to the refusal of other foods. Pay close attention to your conure’s diet to ensure it’s healthy and happy. Providing branches with flowers and buds will also provide extra nutrition and satisfy your bird’s urge to chew and gnaw.
