Training this species is a must, but don’t worry, they are extremely intelligent and training them is typically an easy task. Ideally, a minimum cage size of 25’’ long, 21’’ wide, and 29’’ high with ½’’ wire spacing is recommended.

Housing your White Bellied Caique is simple. A stainless steel cage that is around 24X24X24 inches is sufficient. Ensure that the cage has horizontal bars for climbing and perches for grooming nails. The cage should be located in a draft-free and well-ventilated area where natural light and air are plentiful.

White Bellied Caique live up to their name as “clown birds” with playful, agile, and entertaining behavior. They love to play with toys, climb, whistle, hop, and bounce around, and they’ll never fail to entertain you. They may not be big talkers like some other parrots, but they can sing in different tunes. These birds love to interact with humans; however, over-excitement can lead to them biting their favorite human.

To keep your caique healthy and happy, offer them a mixed diet of seeds, fresh fruits, and vegetables. These birds also require multivitamins, so include soluble or powder multivitamins in their diet.

Caring for your White Bellied Caique is simple yet crucial. Talk to your bird to make it feel appreciated, and it’ll view you as a friend. These birds can learn many tricks and love to perform them. When you’re not around, provide playpens and toys to keep them occupied. Cleaning is also necessary and should be done regularly. Wash the food and water bowls daily and change the drinking water twice every day. Disinfect the cage once every week and keep your bird in a separate cage during and after the cleaning process. Once the cage is thoroughly cleaned and dried, put your bird back in its cage, preferably sun-dried.
