Golden Conures have a lifespan of around 30 years and are naturally curious birds that surprise their owners with their impressive vocabulary and talking ability. They enjoy human interaction and tend to become bored easily, so it’s recommended to keep them engaged in playful activities.
Feeding a Golden Conure involves providing commercial pellets and hand-feeding them fruits and vegetables such as grapes, cucumbers, apples, oranges, broccoli, sweet corn, capsicum, cauliflower, yellow and red peppers, spinach, cooked pumpkin, and beans.
In terms of care, it’s crucial to regularly clean the bird’s food bowl and wooden toys, and ensure they get enough rest and quality sleep. Once the bird is trained, it’s possible to let them out of their cage for short periods of time.
When it comes to housing, Golden Conures are joyful birds that prefer climbing over flying inside their cages. The recommended minimum cage size is 36″ long, 24″ wide, and 66″ high with a ¾” wire spacing. It’s also important to add wooden toys and a parrot perch inside the cage, and place water and food bowls separately within the cage.
